Try The Thing
Spark #82 - You’re not too late. You’re just scared. That’s normal. Do it anyway.
The hardest part isn’t doing it—it’s starting it.
It’s easy to talk ourselves out of trying something new.
I’m too old. Too late. Too far behind.
So we scroll. We wait. We tell ourselves—maybe next week.
Last night in my yoga class, a young woman walked in.
It was her first class ever.
She looked nervous but hopeful.
The room was packed. The heat was intense.
I set her up in the back—blocks, towel, a quiet nudge:
“You’ve got this. Keep it simple. Take breaks.”
She did.
She moved at her own pace.
She didn’t try to keep up.
She listened.
After class, she was glowing. I gave her a high five.
Watching her reminded me:
We don’t need to be great.
We just need to begin.
For me? It’s improv class. Wednesdays.
I’ve been circling it for months.
But I’m ready now.
What about you?
What’s that thing you’ve been wanting to try?
Let it be awkward. Try it anyway.
P.S. What’s your thing? The one you’ve been circling around.
Hit reply and tell me—I’d love to cheer you on.
