Couldn't agree more. I ask that question often. I also remember reading somewhere this question: "Do you want to be heard, hugged or helped." Good advice too.
2 questions I often put together. How are you doing? + How can I help? It's nice to be reminded of how we can actually help others along the way. Thank you for helping us remember on certain days that is all it takes. If one is in need it can be a humbling experience to ask for help. This way the asking often goes just a touch easier.
There is a post that circulates on Facebook periodically that suggests if you hate cancer keep sharing the post. I never understand the idea behind this. As a survivor, here is my advice: find a patient & ask how you can help. DO something.

I’m not surprised that you’re already doing this!
A simple question that changes everything. If you mean it.
Right! Good point. You have to mean it (or don’t say it).
This is a fantastic reminder
Sometimes I want to ask but… to
Be honest…
I think what if they say yes and give me something to help with?
Do I have time ? What will it be?
But you are right
They mostly just want to be acknowledged
To know that you care
And it feels good to really connect
Just not to be on the surface
Really stop
Listen and try to understand
Great reflection Elizabeth! I think most of us feel the same and so we don't ask. But what if we did?

It does get easier as we do it more often. Like a muscle! Thanks for sharing your process.
Yep. 💯
I knew you’d get it.

Regina, this is gold. The most simple and obvious thing we can do is often overlooked.
