Imagine ending every conversation with this:
How can I help?
Not to fix anyone.
Not to prove anything.
Just to care.
Meditation teacher Michael Carroll once said in class:
I just want to be helpful. So I always ask.
It landed in my bones.
Because it’s simple.
Here’s what we forget:
Most people are barely holding it together.
Most don’t feel seen.
Most never get asked.
I don’t always remember to ask.
I forget when I’m rushing.
Or when I’m stuck in my own head.
But when I do
it shifts something.
A hand offered at the right time
reminds them they matter.
Sometimes, that’s all it takes.
Couldn't agree more. I ask that question often. I also remember reading somewhere this question: "Do you want to be heard, hugged or helped." Good advice too.
A simple question that changes everything. If you mean it.
