How Do You Like Your Feedback—Sweetened Or Unsweetened?
Spark #45 - Mindset messages to start your day steady and ready
How do you like your feedback—sweetened or unsweetened?
One of my first yoga teachers, Baron Baptiste, asked me this question. I said ‘unsweetened’ without hesitating.
I wanted my teaching to improve. Why would I want him to soften the truth? Even if it stung, I needed to hear it.
And so I listened. Wrote it down. Thanked him. Got to work.
Years later, I took the same approach with teachers at my studio, Verge Yoga.
Their answer immediately revealed their commitment and potential for growth. (and yes, some asked for their feedback ‘sweetened’)
How do you like your feedback?
Most won’t ask.
Some will tell you the truth. Others will soften the blow—mostly for their own comfort.
If you want to be the best, ask for unsweetened feedback—every time.
Then, write it down, thank them and get to work.

Unsweetened. Sweetened feels manipulative.
All natural!
