You're better than that
Spark #344 - When I feel stuck, here’s what I say to myself.
Let me be clear about something. I share publicly what I experience privately.
If I say it here, I’ve sat with it behind closed doors.
In other words, I’m in this with you.
I’ve learned that sometimes being direct with myself is the only thing that cuts through my thick skull. It interrupts my lame excuses and gets past those sticky defenses.
So when I feel stuck, here’s what I say:
You’re better than that.
It’s often like a much needed punch in the gut. It leaves no margin for interpretation.
You’re better than that.
I say it to myself when I reached for my phone instead of the book on my nightstand. I say it to myself when I’ve overcommitted again. I say it to myself when I reached for the processed snack I’d promised myself I was done with.
You’re better than that. You know you are. And you know exactly what I’m talking about.
You can delete this. You can unsubscribe. Or you can say it out loud.
You’re better than that.
Your call.
✨ P.S. If this hit home, forward it to someone who might need to hear it too.

Thank you!
That line hits because it’s simple and true. At 78, I still catch myself doing the same thing — reaching for the easy option, the distraction, the excuse. “You’re better than that” is a clean reset. No drama, no self‑help poetry. Just a reminder to act like the person you know you are.
