That line hits because it’s simple and true. At 78, I still catch myself doing the same thing — reaching for the easy option, the distraction, the excuse. “You’re better than that” is a clean reset. No drama, no self‑help poetry. Just a reminder to act like the person you know you are.

You nailed it Bob. So glad you get me. I’m sure this turned a few away.

I think “you’re better than that” only works if you already believe you deserve better. Otherwise it quietly turns into shame wearing a motivational quote.

Some people are not stuck because they forgot their standards. They’re stuck because they stopped believing those standards apply to them.

This is a great point. I recognize that it can seem harsh and could add to self-hatred if it’s not blanketed with hopefulness.

I love this. So much better than shoulding all over and berating ourselves. A simple, gentle reminder and affirmation in one.

Yes, gentle but firm.

Once again great advice. And I need this. I've been off track lately and struggling to get things down that I need to get down. I've been procrasting and I'm better than that.

I’m glad you liked it. I find it wakes me up quickly.

I love this. We all need these kind of reminders to stay on track. 🙏🏻

Some might find it too harsh but then keep doing that thing over and over.
