Welcome to a new series on the mind-body connection from Daily Whispers.
Communication between your mind and body is happening non-stop, even in your sleep. However, most of us often miss these vital updates.
In our noisy, fast-paced, and chaotic world, it's crucial to start listening to the information streaming through our bodies. Did you know that 70-80% of your internal communication is from the body to the brain? This means your body is constantly feeding messages to your brain. Only 20-30% of this communication flows from the brain to the body.
Why does this matter?
Because every moment, you are receiving hits of guidance, direction, and insight that you might be missing. Becoming fluent in the language of the body can help you tap into this internal wisdom. This has been a lifelong passion and obsession of mine—understanding what my body is trying to tell me in any given moment.
And I want to share what I’ve learned with you.
To decipher these messages, pay attention to what your body is telling you in obvious ways. In so doing, you’ll build somatic (body) awareness. Start by asking yourself simple questions like:
- Am I cold?
- Am I hot?
- Am I thirsty?
- Am I hungry?
- Am I tired?
- Do I feel energized?
- Am I tense or relaxed?
Listen for the answers. They may not necessarily come in words but rather through sensations. As you practice, you will start to understand deeper and more subtle hits of guidance, insight, and inner wisdom. Remember, communication between your mind and body is constant, and most of it streams from your body to your mind. Start by listening for updates.
