(Inspired by Otis Redding and Jeff)
Everyone is dealing with something.
Grief. Anxiety. Addiction. Debt. Illness.
Trusting this helps me catch myself before judging others. (Most of the time.)
It reminds me to be compassionate. (Still trying my best.)
My friend Jeff, a part-time preacher and full-time CEO, once said:
“Sometimes we need to double down on tenderness.”
Yes. More of that.
When I slip into old ways,
I judge and I’m impatient.
But tenderness feels different.
It’s a soft voice.
A slower pace.
A lighter touch.
Years ago, I came across this video.
It changed me.
Take a look.
(warning: it’s totally old school YouTube)
Powerful, right?
Let the message sink in.
Then, move a little slower.
Speak a little softer.
The world is rough enough.
Don’t add to it.
✨In today’s Pep Talk,
I share three powerful ways to cultivate compassion. Especially when it’s hard.
Wow - powerful video - makes it point well. Thank you for this. As Ram Das said, "We are all walking each other home." We don't know what is behind the strangers eyes, what is heavy on their heart. Being gentle and finding grace with others helps us all walk through this world with more ease.
oh, good one. Thanks. Will share.
