Throw Away Your Old Playbook
Spark #50 - Break free from limiting beliefs by rewriting your mental playbook
“Your new game starts today.”
I wrote this in my journal this morning and felt chills.
If you felt chills too, you’re in the right place.
What’s in your old playbook?
Pick one belief you’ve carried for too long.
Here are a few common ones:
I’m not smart.
I’m not a morning person.
I’m too old.
I don’t like exercise.
I’m not disciplined.
I’m not good with tech.
Mine? I’m not brave enough.
That belief kept me censoring my words, second-guessing, and settling for less. It haunted me, like a shadow: Not brave enough.
I’m done. No more.
Time to burn the old playbook.
So here’s what I did:
I set a 10-minute timer and wrote everything tied to that belief.
Is this even true?
What do I avoid because of it?
How does it keep me stuck?
Then, I slashed a giant X through it.
Next, I wrote my new playbook in present tense. Set another 10-minute timer and explored:
When I am brave… I am… I do… I feel…
Now it’s your turn.
Still getting the chills? Good. Nervous? Even better.
No one’s coming to do this for you.
The answers are already in you.
Your new game starts now.
Giddy up.

I leaned forward as I hit play
I found my self leaning more forward
When you x’d out your wits
to listen at the at start
And I’m still leaning forward as you finish
Thanks for the journal inspiration
Wow I just did something I never thought I would do last week . I opened up to my supervisor about some one in regards to him not doing his job and he gets away with it I just exploded. I never thought I could do it. The bottom line is this worker is untouchable. It really stinks. I do my job and that's it. I was getting really worked up about it. I have to let it go. I love spark it's really an eye opener that we have to look at ourselves.
