I woke up at 5:00am today. This is inconvenient. Morning Cara!

Very TRUE! And it was… 😄

Good morning Peggy! 5am? Hmmm. I see that as opportunity. :)

This distinction matters enormously. The body can respond to inconvenience as though it were danger, especially when the nervous system has been carrying too much for too long. Naming the experience accurately can create just enough space for the body to soften and reality to return.

You said it way better than me Linda! Thank you for sharing.

Good to connect Cara ☸️

Ceci sounds like she had a gift for cutting through the noise. "This is inconvenient" is such a small phrase but it does so much work. it names the thing without inflating it. Trying this next time traffic tries to ruin my morning.

Cara Bradley's avatar

I like that Heather. Name without inflating. Brilliant!

The best! 👏 And it’s made me realise… I seem to use “this is inconvenient” for the real catastrophes. Like “I’ve broken my ankle, badly, and won’t have mobility for months — this is inconvenient”. Yet I’ll have an IT frustration and completely lose it. 😂

Great observation Brodee. I hope your ankle break isn’t new. Is it?

No thank goodness. 10 years ago this week. Im not sure how different it would be to go through that in my mid-60s than my mid-50s

When I want to complain, I stop and do a reality check. And then I say: “I could be in Gaza. This is nothing!”

That's a great reframe Cara. Ceci was clearly very wise.

She was. :(

I am struggling with editing my latest article; it's not a problem, it's just inconvenient. I am loving this reframe! It has the ring of truth in it. Thanks, Cara.

Right! It’s made me less whiney. Now I find inconveniences all day long.
