The Brain Needs to Rest
When was the last time you let your brain truly rest? Not just sleeping, but stepping away from the endless cycle of scrolling, planning, and multitasking?
Years ago, I came across a simple yet powerful reminder while visiting a retreat center in Peru’s Sacred Valley. On a small hobbit-style hut, a plaque read:
The brain needs to rest.
It was a call to pause, to slow down, and to make space for stillness.
The hut belonged to Benito, a shaman who lives high in the mountains. Twice a year, he walks three days on foot to the valley to share sacred experiences. His tiny, dark hut, with just one window, was designed for quiet—a stark contrast to the constant noise of modern life.
Benito’s message stuck with me.
When do any of us let our minds settle?
A moment of silence, a slow walk without distractions, cooking in peace—these are simple acts that can give our overstimulated brains the break they need.
You don’t need to wait for the perfect moment. Start small.
Take a few minutes each day to unplug and just be. Even a brief pause can have a profound impact.
The brain needs to rest. Let that be your reminder today.
Exciting changes are on the way—this space is about to light up.
Imagine starting each day steady and ready, no matter how fast life moves.
It’s possible.
In the coming year, I’ll be sharing tiny messages—like sparks— to ground you, shift your mindset, and help you take bold action.
Quick. Clear. Every single day.
Stay tuned.
What a great question. When do I allow my brain to rest? Love it Cara!
