Step. Step. Don't Know.
Spark #341 - What my yoga teacher taught me about letting go of control.
We want control. And we think that if we had all the answers we would have more peace.
That is delusion at its best.
The truth is, uncertainty is the only sure thing.
Jobs change. Kids grow up. People leave. Life keeps shifting.
Not knowing is brutal.
It can wreak havoc on our lives, if we let it.
But if we stop fighting it. If we accept that we have no idea how things will turn out, we free up the energy to see what’s right here.
Years ago my yoga teacher, Beryl Bender Birch, shared this gem.
Step. Step. Don’t Know.
I say it out loud when I feel myself trying to control.
These wise words remind me that trying to guess the future is a waste of energy.
Step. Step. Don’t Know.
Give it a try today.
✨ P.S. You know who needs this. Send it their way.

Cara, I have to admit, I am someone who likes to know and have a plan and know what comes next. Like it's driving me nuts right now that my husband and I want to move to avoid another Chicago Winter, but he's yet to confirm for me if we're doing so mid-Summer at the end of our current lease or we're going to wait till later Fall since our landlord is flexible.
I will have to repeat "step, step, don't know" quite a bit over the next few weeks :)
I Am therefore I do. The minute we are born, the forces of life outside the womb beg us to push against them. "Become more", they urge. "But how"? we ask... 🤞🏻they reply. 😉
