Do you allow yourself to dream?
When life gets busy and stressful, it’s easy to lose touch with what’s possible.
A few years ago, I decided to change that. I bought an unruled journal and some colorful markers to start writing and drawing my dreams. Although it felt awkward at first, inviting my family to join transformed it into a beautiful, creative process.
Dreams are like seeds; some sprout, some grow into trees, and others lead to even bigger dreams.
One of my dreams was finding a home.
After years of moving and renting, my husband and I listed our must-haves for a house. Initially, we were scattered in our ideas, but as we practiced, we became more specific. We didn’t know what was possible, but we kept dreaming. One day, we found our perfect home on a private road along the coast of Maine—a place we had envisioned together. It all started with a swish of a colorful marker.
I encourage you to try this for yourself.
Here’s how to get started:
1. Get a Dream Book: Choose a blank, unruled journal and some fun markers to spark your creativity.
2. Set the Mood: Find a quiet space to reflect—preferably outside, where nature can inspire you.
3. Begin Small: Start with simple ideas—places you want to visit, new directions for your work, or creative hobbies you’d like to explore.
4. Dream Freely: Let your imagination flow without judgment. There’s no right or wrong way to dream.
5. Revisit Often, but Don’t Force It: Make it a habit to return to your dream book, adding new ideas and refining old ones. Observe how your dreams evolve.
6. Include Others: Invite family or friends to join the fun and inspire one another.
Remember, it’s not about perfection—just give yourself the space to imagine what’s possible. And remember: anything is possible!
