Listen to this Whisper
There are moments that feel different—moments that stand apart from our usual busy routines.
These are full, rich moments. They can happen anywhere: on a mountaintop, at the beach with a newborn, or even at the kitchen sink.
My journal is filled with these moments—when time slows down, or even stands still.
These moments feel like time outside of time. They hover just beneath the surface of our busy lives, waiting to be noticed. If I’m quiet enough, they call to me, urging me to pay attention.
When I stop to listen, I immediately feel:
- my shoulders relax,
- my breath deepen,
- my heart open.
And almost every time, I smile—a knowing smile.
These moments, this time outside of time, are there for all of us, no matter where we are.
We could be on the subway, folding laundry, walking in the woods, bathing the dog, or serving a customer.
Pema Chödrön once wrote, “We keep missing the moments that we’re in.”
That simple reminder has stopped me in my tracks more than once.
This Whisper is my reminder to you:
Slow down.
Breathe deeply.
Pay attention.
When you pause, you may just find a moment between moments—where your shoulders drop, your breath deepens, your heart opens, and you smile a knowing smile.
These moments remind me that the richness of life is always quietly pulsing beneath the surface of my busy day. If I stop long enough to listen, I find it’s always there, waiting to be felt.
