Some things just run out of steam.
You try to rally.
But the enthusiasm is gone.
I was there.
A few years ago, my husband and I gave up our home.
Sold most of our stuff.
Put the rest in storage.
We worked in the car and slept in short-term rentals.
We chased freedom.
Traveled across the country.
Felt untethered.
And for a while—it worked.
Until it didn’t.
We eventually stopped.
Settled in Maine.
Found a home.
Planted roots again.
We listened.
We were at the end of our rope.
The energy for the road had run out.
And maybe you’re feeling it too.
Pay attention to the signs when the spark fades.
You’ll feel it in:
your work
a friendship
a habit
where you spend your time
You’ll know when you know.
That’s what I learned.
It’s a quiet knowing:
I’m done with this.
So what are you forcing?
What’s already run its course?
That end-of-the-rope moment doesn’t always shout.
Sometimes it whispers.
A relationship ✅
You know that this will land with me, given our similarish travels and enjoying freedom. I give thanks every day to have a home again, but loved my open-hearted wandering season
