You don't have to feel like doing it
Spark #339 - Even if you dread it, do it anyway.
It was another Monday morning. I found myself standing in the cold gym, staring at the whiteboard with a familiar dread.
Walking lunges. Overhead dumbbells. Sprinting. Burpees.
I don’t feel like doing this. I never do.
These workouts are hard. They expose all my weaknesses. Physically and mentally.
But I keep showing up. Not because I want to go. Because of how I feel after. The sense that I did the hard thing. That I’m ready for the day. That the people around me did it too.
Feeling like doing it was never the point.
Showing up is.
✨ P.S. The Strong. Calm. Clear. 30-Day Reset Workbook helps you build the habit of showing up. Included with a paid subscription or download for $15.

Cara, I'm a big believer in making a workout as enjoyable as possible so you stick with it, but everyone, myself included, have those days where you just don't feel like it.
But when you're someone who has strong intrinsic motivation, like yourself, you find a way because you know you're ultimately contributing to your best self--not just in standard exercise benefits, but in the benefits you've described that are less easily measured. Way to go!
That's how I feel when I have to do techie work on my computer. I've tried to reframe it by saying 'Tech is divine service' - that helps, but it still takes simply sitting down and showing up!
