I feel cheated, Cara, that you didn't tell us what you discovered. Sarah Fay asked me to describe my Substack in one word. I knew she hated reinvention, so after some thought, I came up with Possibility. And I'm 82! Yes, I think that's what we're all actually looking for as we age in a different world than the one our parents grew up in. Blue💙
Blue, that is a great word. I missed that prompt from Sarah. I think my one word would be 'inspiring'. That's what popped in, but I will mull this over.
I'm 63 and sometimes get caught in a downward spiral of having "missed the boat." Your post reminded me that while I may have missed a boat, or some boats, there are an unlimited number of boats! So many other boats. Now I just need to choose the right one(s)! :-)
Yes... though 67 presents itself entirely differently than 62. 62 was easy.
My face is far more wrinkled (grotesque stress and grief levels)...
My body is stronger because I spent more intentionally time in the gym this year, training for an 80 mile kayak paddle... though people DO view me differently and through the invaluable painful ridiculous errors in judgment I have made over the past year
... I virw myself differently too.
I AM coming home to myself ~ though 'who's in the house' is up for discussion
Thanks Cara... what IS possible at 67 is being safe with being powerful. I ask for my correct name because it's important with me. I've not ever liked the name 'Diane' (and, it's not my name!) so I claim MY name in safety ~ Diana.
I’m almost 80 and gardening, volunteering and traveling around the world. That number does not stop. me one bit from leading a rich full life. It’s all in one’s perspective!🙏💕😎💃
67 and professional gardener / landscaper, bodyworker, chocolate maker and athlete. Just finished an 80 mile kayak paddle across the Gulfstream from Bimini to Florida.
Janice… I started a tradition of spending a month, esch year, in S Africa and expanding out Westeard ~ Ghana, Namibia… I have made lifelong friends that we keep in touch all year long. This year, though, I head to Croatia for ‘CE’ and will explore from there (ferry to Italy!) …
Scotland has been whispering to me for awhile now. Tell me more!!
Yes ~ staying open is key. My entire life is a magic carpet ride ✨️
I lived in York for13 years and moved to Costa Rica in 2014 to heal from 15 years of late stage Lyme disease. I dug into plant based medicine and healed my body and mind...
I came back to the US (seasonally) to care for my aging mama and got my leg stuck In a bear trap of relationship that I finally exited a couple years ago (henceforth stress, wrinkles, grief, excelerated aging). I still have a little house I lease down there.
I have always lived in the wonder of it all and travel is definitely in my veins.
Solo traveler as well.
At present, I am right around the corner from you guys (I hope there is no offense to that reference... I have always called collective friends 'you guys' since childhood) in N Sutton NG. A couple hours from you. I have been coming over to Kittery Point to kayak with my Naturopath and am actually actively looking at moving back to that area.
I wouldn't at all mind the grounding connection with like minded souls ✨️
Btw... I am taking a CE course (Somatic Emotional Release-and extension of Craniosacral work I do) in Zagreb in Dec... then figured I would just set myself loose like I do in S Aftica (and everywhere else!). The coast is a MUST, I am a water monger.
Hi Diana! I live in Portland, Maine as does Cara and met her at Foleys gym to which I am an ardent strength training member. My first trip via RS to Africa was to South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia and I fell in love with the magnitude of the beauty and the people. Did a RS trip via small motor yacht along the Croatian coast (Montenegro to Zagreb). Such history and beauty! I love active and learning travel experiences as a retired educator and have found very satisfying adventures with RS as I am a single traveler. Please do share more about yourself as well!
So good to hear your opinions about the spots I will be visiting. The RS trips are fabulous and packed full with lots of learning and so well organized for small active groups. How fortunate you are to live in such a gorgeous country!💫🏴🌞
I’ll be on a Road Scholar trip starting in Glasgow and ending on Edinburgh. Sept 3-16. I can’t wait. my first trip to Scotland !! Stopping in Dingwall, Cawdor Castle and Culloden Battlefield from there on to Pitlochry then onto Edinburgh!
That is a very wise and true statement Mark. Anything is indeed possible when we are open. Especially when our mind has opened the doors wide to possibility...

Ah yes. I would describe you and your work that way Jane.
Aw that’s nice!
Possibility. I freaking love that. I would describe myself that way. I think about it non stop.

They're all the right one!
Yes Lynn…so many boats! That’s it.
I've been a lot of reflecting lately too. Where I see the next decade going etc. Reflection is so important. And changing...
I'm finding that staying open to possibility is essential. Glad to be exploring with you.

Great reflection Diane. Coming home to myself. Yes, that's the gift.

I like this Cara. Looking forward, rather than back with a mind open to possibilities.
Sounds like a great birthday!
It was Melanie. So many layers being peeled away.
Awesome to hear!
Not “What is Still Possible at 62” but rather “What is Possible at 62!” Why give such power/value to a mere number? Makes no sense to me!😎💫
Truth!
It will

Yay me.
Congratulations to us both! Back from 2-week safari in Kenya/Tanzania in Feb…off to Scottish Highlands in Sept! 💪🏼✈️💫😎💃🎵

Janice, I live in the Scottish Highlands! Where will you be based? I am in Forres, on the Moray coast.
Oh my gosh. You two must meet! Janice, I’m going in September too. Let’s talk.
You did it!
We really are what we believe we are. 'Open' to the possibility means open to all possibility. Anything is possible when we're open. 🙏🏼
That is a very wise and true statement Mark. Anything is indeed possible when we are open. Especially when our mind has opened the doors wide to possibility...
Hope. That’s where I live.
🙏🏼
Thanks, Jane. I appreciate that. Since we have to think anyway, we might as well be thinking about what’s possible!
We see what we want to see when we look in any given mirror at any given time of day
I'm in NH!! NOT NG!! 😄
