Catch Yourself Before You Spiral
How mindfulness helps you regain control of negative thoughts
Nope, not today. These thoughts aren’t helpful or true. We’ve all had those days—cold, rainy Mondays where everything seems to go wrong.
Maybe it’s a stalled car or a technology glitch, and suddenly your mind drifts into dark places. That happened to me recently, but thanks to mindfulness, I caught myself before spiraling.
How Mindfulness Helps
Mindfulness brings awareness to the present moment, allowing you to observe your thoughts without judgment. This pause lets you question negative thoughts and stop them from taking control. With regular practice, mindfulness breaks negative patterns, builds resilience, and helps you face challenges with calm.
It’s easy to feel like a failure in tough moments, but most of those thoughts aren’t true. By pausing and asking, “Is this helpful? Is it true?” you can shift your mindset and regain control.
